Activites at Upper Coomera Library

Holiday Activties at the State Library

If you are looking for something fun to do over the break try the Scratch Animation Workshops for kids aged 13-17. It's on at the state library and is a chance for you to learn how to create your own digital animation!

It is a paid event but you do learn how to make an animation and will also receive a USB with a copy of your animation, and the Scratch software.
There are two sessions to choose from: Wednesday the 25th of September or Wednesday the 2nd of October, 9.30am-12.30pm.

GCWA Children's Writing Competition

The Gold Coast Writer's Association is hosting the 2013 Children's Writing Competition which is open for kids up to 17 years of age. Details are below however click here for a link to their site where you can download the entry form. Entry is free and the deadline is Sunday the 15th of September.

Theme:  What’s Special About The Gold Coast

7-10yrs, (short story up to 350 words, poetry up to 15 lines)
11-13yrs (short story up to 500 words, poetry up to 20 lines)
14-17 yrs. (short story up to 750 words, poetry up to 25 lines)
Prizes:  First place in each of the six sections will be awarded $50.
Runners-up will be awarded a GCWA Certificate of Achievement.
