Literati 2013

Gold Coast City Council Libraries will be hosting Literati 2013 on May 17 and 18. It has workshops designed for aspiring writers and for those aimed at getting published, offering talks and master classes by a host of authors including Anna Campbell, Angela Slatter, L.A. Larkin, Matthew Condon and many more. Many of the events are on at the new Upper Coomera library which is very convenient for all of you local writers. Download the program here.

CYA Hatchlings Competition

A heads up to all our budding writers out there. The Children's and Young Adult Writers Hatchlings Competition is on now. This competition is open to young people aged 8 to 18 who would like a chance to have their writing published. Categories include picture book, graphic novel, illustrated novel and young adult novel chapter. There are cash prizes and shortlisted entries get submitted to a publisher for consideration.
The closing deadline for this competition is April 30 so there is not much time left to get your entries in.

Youth Passes to the Byron Bay Writer's Festival

Byron Bay Writer's Festival

The festival isn't on until 2-4 August but you can get your early bird passes starting tomorrow.

Join some of Australia's best kids' writers for fun and frivolity in the kids' marquee on Sunday 4 August from 9.15am-4.00pm. Kids between 6 and 16 can enjoy storytelling, activities, readings and an opportunity to meet the authors during book signings.
COST: $35 or $30 for Northern Rivers Writers' Centre Family members. An accompanying adult pass will be provided on request.
