We are already a third of the way through this final term of the year and the Christmas holidays are sneaking up quicker than you can say YOUR BOOK REVIEWS. No we're not counting down the days...honestly we're not...just the weeks. And as we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and summer draws ever closer and the days are longer, we have fallen into a festive stupor here in the library. Well that may be a slight over exaggeration but in celebration of the coming big break we've decided to reward some people who've contributed in a very positive way to our blog and as we like to think have become a part of the library family.

If you are savvy enough to read this post and you have contributed to the YOUR BOOK REVIEWS or the YOUR CREATIVE WRITING pages this year then you are in luck. We have something for in the a small reward might you say, a token of our appreciation, a gift for your gab and a lift to your drab school day. So come in and get it! Hit us up in the library for your gift.

If you haven't looked at the YOUR BOOK REVIEWS or the YOUR CREATIVE WRITING pages lately there is some great writing being done by some very talented writers. Check it out! Stop by and enjoy the creative writing. Contribute something yourself before the <3 holidays <3 and you will also receive a gift.

Well the results are in. Opinion amongst those first to read the new Matthew Reilly Scarecrow novel is that it is a great read. We have a couple of copies available in the library at the moment and have more on the way. There are a lot of readers interested in getting their hands on it so we've set up a reserve system that you can find at the Matthew Reilly display in the library.

In other news the GET READING competition is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered, we've had a huge response. The competition will either be drawn today as planned but only if it rains and sport is cancelled, otherwise we will draw the prizes next Tuesday so that all students who entered can attend.

Matthew Reilly

As a celebration of the imminent release of Matthew Reilly's new book Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves, we have set up a display in the library to showcase the Scarecrow series.

The new book is released tomorrow 12/10/2011 and we have several copies ordered that will be available in the library very soon.

Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves (Shane Schofield #5)

At an abandoned Soviet base in the Arctic, the battle to save the world has begun...

It is a top-secret base known only as Dragon Island. A long-forgotten relic of the Cold War, it houses a weapon of terrible destructive force, a weapon that has just been re-activated...

When Dragon Island is seized by a brutal terrorist force calling itself the Army of Thieves, the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and there are no crack units close enough to get there in time to stop the Army setting off the weapon.

Except, that is, for a small equipment-testing team up in the Arctic led by a Marine captain named Schofield, call-sign SCARECROW. It's not a strike force; just a handful of Marines and civilians. It's not equipped to attack a fortified island held by a vicious army. But Scarecrow will lead the team in anyway, because someone has to.
